SSID or Service Set Identifier is the WiFi network name broadcast by every Linksys router, even yours. When a client device searches the area for WiFi networks, it will detect the SSID of your router in order to connect to it. The SSID Broadcast option is enabled by default; however, you can disable it if you want to secure your WiFi network from potential threats.

Continue reading this post and learn how to disable SSID broadcast on your Linksys wireless router by accessing the Linksys router login page.

How to Disable SSID Broadcast on Linksys Router?

Connect Your WiFi Devices

  • Get hold of an Ethernet cable.
  • Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the Linksys wireless router and another to the existing modem.
  • You also have the option of connecting your devices wirelessly.

Open an Internet Browser

  • Switch on your computer or laptop.
  • Open an internet browser on your wireless device such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Opera, Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer, etc.

Access 192.168.1.1

With that, you will successfully be able to disable SSID broadcast on your Linksys wireless router. On the off chance, you are not able to climb the ladder of success, follow the troubleshooting hacks mentioned below.

Can’t Disable SSID Broadcast on Linksys Router?

Verify the Ethernet Connection

Make sure that the Ethernet cable connecting your Linksys wireless router and the existing modem is not worn out or damaged from anywhere. In case it is, it is advised that you get it replaced with a new one without giving a second thought.

Use the Correct IP Address

Be very cautious while entering the default IP address in the address bar of your internet browser. The reason being, one wrong character is enough to redirect you to a website you don’t want to visit.

Update the Firmware

An outdated firmware can also stop you from disabling SSID broadcast on your Linksys wireless router. Therefore, log in to your WiFi device, go to the Settings menu, and update its firmware to the latest version.

Enter the Correct Admin Details

In order to hide the network name of your Linksys router, you need to successfully log in to it. And to do that, it is important that you make use of the correct login credentials. Therefore, make sure that you are entering the right password and username when prompted.

Reboot Your Linksys Router

If none of the aforementioned troubleshooting hacks managed to help you out, consider rebooting your Linksys router.

Here is how you can reboot your wireless device:

  • Power off your Linksys wireless router and unplug it from its wall socket.
  • Wait for a couple of seconds.
  • Thereafter, plug your Linksys router back into its wall socket and turn it on.

Once you are done rebooting your device, try to Disable SSID broadcast option.

End Note

Let us hope that after following the guidelines mentioned above, you will be able to disable SSID broadcast on your Linksys wireless router with ease. Now, no hacker or unauthorized user will be able to access your WiFi network without your consent.
