The reason why you should be interested in the new edition of the game is the increased smoothness of the game and support for ray-tracing. However, it should be noted that Rockstar Games went a little easy on this topic, so this technique works mainly in designated places and with the appropriate graphics mode set.
Players can decide how they want to run Grand Theft Auto V on their consoles – there are three variants of graphics settings to choose from. If you choose the “Performance” mode, then the production will be displayed in upscaling 4K resolution, which at some points can smoothly move to a lower chapter (1440p), which is definitely not noticeable during the action. The game then works in a fairly stable sixty frames per second, even when there is a lot of confusion on the screen.
However, if you appreciated the best visuals, you can activate the “Quality” mode. In this case, you will be dealing with native 4K resolution and ray-tracing enabled. Of course, it has some limitations – GTA V then works at thirty frames per second.
The manufacturer went to the hand of those who are more indecisive and prepared the “Ray Tracing Performance” mode. By default, it works in scaled 4K and 60 FPS, but due to ray-tracing enabled, the game is not able to maintain these parameters all the time. Therefore, in hotter moments, the game may lose smoothness and the chapter will drop to 1440p. The last mode is not available on the weaker Xbox Series S – on this console we can only play scaled 4K and 30 FPS or native 1080p and 60 FPS.
Among the other novelties, it should also be added that in Grand Theft Auto on PS5 and XSX | S we have the option of activating HDR, which significantly improves the image quality – of course, if you have the right TV or monitor. In addition, the game benefits a lot from fast SSDs, because it greatly shortens the loading screens, which on previous platforms could last up to several minutes. Audiophiles will also appreciate the support for 3D sound, while PlayStation 5 owners can enjoy the possibilities offered by the DualSense controller.
Is GTA Online available on PS5 and XSX?
Yes, Rockstar Games is well aware of how popular the online mode in Grand Theft Auto V is, which is why the network module is of course also available on next-generation consoles. You can access it by purchasing the full version of the game, but it will also function as a completely separate module, which is a good solution for people who are not interested in the story campaign. PlayStation 5 owners are in a winning position in this case, because on this platform in GTA Online it is available for free for three months for the premieres – then, of course, you will have to buy access, although it has not yet been disclosed how much it will cost.
How do I access Grand Theft Auto V on PS5 and XSX?
Activating GTA V on new platforms is not as obvious as it is with most competing titles. Rockstar Games has not decided to release a free update – what’s more, even if you have the game on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, you will have to buy the product again, as older versions and nextgens are treated as separate works.
Can I transfer my save from earlier versions to PS5 and XSX?
Yes, it is possible to continue the fun on new platforms if you played GTA V on different devices. For example – to run the game on PS5, you must first install the PS4 version, then run the story mode, enter the options and select “Upload game save” in one of the tabs. The next step is to start the next-gen edition and select the “Download game save” option. Save transfer applies to both the story mode and GTA Online.
